Learn-to-Play Hockey Program

EYH Learn-to-Play Hockey Program Overview

Learn-to-Play Hockey Program

The EYH Learn-to-Play program is a non-competitive teaching program that follows the USA Hockey, American Development Model (ADM). All EYH Learn to Play (Beginner) ice times are held at the Everett Community Ice Rink. The EYH Learn-to-Play program is ongoing and schedules are available at the rink or on-line. Players can join the EYH Learn-to-Play program at any time during the season. All EYH Learn-to-Play participants must register with USA Hockey before starting. USA Hockey registration is free for players age 6 and younger. Once players successfully complete the required skills in the EYH Learn-to-Play program, they are able to join the EYH Recreational League, a competitive hockey program under the guidelines of USA Hockey.

Where to Start?
For the best possible experience EYH requires new skaters to successfully complete the Everett Community Rink Learn to Skate program. The learn to skate program is for all ages and can work with those having zero on-ice experience to those that can already skate but are looking for advanced skating skills. The Learn to skate coaches can recommend moving on to Learn-to-Play based on their experience and expertise. The Learn to Skate program information can be found here:

EYH Learn-to-Play
Once a player has completed Learn to Skate, or already has sufficient skating skills they can enroll in Learn-to-Play. Starting in the 2019-20 season Learn-to-Play is going to be split into two divisions, both will practice at the same time, however they will be split into age and skill levels so players are with age and skill appropriate peers. Learn-to-Play 1 will consist of players who have very little hockey experience.  Learn-to-Play 2 will consist of players who have already participated in the Learn-to-Play 1 or have a little more experience. For both levels, drills will appropriate for their skill development.

*If your child has already participated in Learn-to-Play or a different Beginner Program, please consult the coaches as to which level they should be at or if they are ready to move on to EYH Recreational Hockey
